All about Fifth Snap Lens Fest

Snap Lens Fest

Snap held its annual lens party conference. The conference was Snap’s fifth lens festival. The conference highlighted that Snap now has 300,000 AR Creators on its platform. The new major development is that AR makers and developers will start building lenses with digital goods, and a user can buy them with Snap Tokens. Snap Tokens are a type of currency that can be purchased in the Snapchat app.

Snap Tokens can be purchased 80 tokens for $0.99, 250 tokens for $2.99, 500 tokens for $4.99, or 1,100 tokens for $9.99. To use the newly built lenses on Snap, a user must purchase them with Snap Tokens. The users will then only be able to unlock power-ups, AR items, and additional tools within select Snap lenses.

According to the head of Snap’s global AR community efforts, Sophia Dominguez, “The company hand-picked 10 AR makers and developers for this pilot. For this initial rollout, Snap focused on three use cases for AR: self-expression, fashion, and play.”

Sophia further added, “We are exploring these digital assets as new ways for creators and developers to build businesses beyond making lenses for brands and customers. This is the very beginning and we are excited to see how Snapchatters deal with this.”

Aside from that, Snap also announced its new global “Lensathon” with a $200,000 prize, giving creators until January 31st to submit their lenses.

By redeeming your snap tokens you can turn the potato lens into many changes such as a police officer, magician, cat and more.

Another lens that made noise for all the right reasons is the Table Trenches Lens, developed by DB Creations. Redeeming your snap tokens allows a user to get new skins, access new levels, and other abilities within the Lens.
